about

The “10 Strings” dual album, released in November 2008, is the first commercial release by The Panache Orchestra in 10 years since their debut EP titled “Neo” that was recorded and released upon their initial meeting by accident in Tokyo, Japan in 1998. The ten compositions featured on each of the two discs were produced using only 10 strings: six from the guitar and four from the violin with no overdubs (with most tracks recorded stone-cold in one take and practically no sound isolation); composing a quick pen-and-ink sketch of music by The Panache Orchestra, stripped down to its bare essence of the raw, pure sound of the acoustic guitar and violin– a precursor of things to come.

The 10 compositions on Disc 1 (the "blue side") express the tranquil, meditative, classically-rooted side of TPO, while the second disc (the "red side") reveals more of their range with an eclectic mix of sounds, moods and tempos. Their follow-on project slated for release in late 2010 will feature more elaborate orchestrations and arrangements of more of their music.

about

The Panache Orchestra Los Angeles, California

The Panache Orchestra suggests turning off your cell phones and your useless genres. Woven into TPO's DNA are strands of The Beatles, Django Reinhardt & Stephane Grappelli , Mahavishnu Orchestra, and traditional music of Europe and Japan shaken up with a shot of vintage rock ‘n roll, and as the night grows longer and the cocktails accumulate, a dynamic, swashbuckling romanticism emerges. ... more
